Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art

The Diocesan Museum is housed inside the ancient "Vescovado of Feltre" (Bishop's palace in Feltre), in the heart of the historic town. It was built in the thirteenth century and it was renovated several times in Renaissance style. After decades of neglect, the building has been subject of a careful restoration and designed to house the works of sacred art from the territory of the ancient diocese of Feltre and Belluno.

You can find masterpieces of painting, sculpture and jewellery. Among these there are paintings by Jacopo Tintoretto, Luca Giordano, Sebastiano Ricci, Federico Bencovich, Gaspare Diziani, works of art of the Renaissance sculpture Francesco Terilli and the so-called "Michelangelo of wood" Andrea Brustolon, the chalice of the deacon Orso of the sixth century, one of the oldest in Christianity, a portable altar of the twelfth century, a Madonna of the '400 in alabaster, the post-Byzantine cross in box-wood made by a monk of Mount Athos.
